West Flanders has just unveiled a prototype production unit that’s now producing its first commercial volumes of hydroponic leeks.

The new growing system allows for higher yields and more consistent quality plus other positives.

Growing hydroponic leeks has provided a higher percentage of the desired white portion of the harvested plant, giving consumers “more leek per leek”. These leeks are seen as new product in the European marketplace.
