TULSA, Okla. –
A Tulsa-based company is working to change how the community thinks about food — and it starts with a harvest that never leaves the city. Produce Now, launched in April 2024, is an indoor farming and health-food business growing pesticide-free greens inside climate-controlled hydroponic GrowPods.
The company is a family-run business and produces leafy greens and vegetables that go directly into ready-to-eat salads, cold-pressed green drinks and weekly Harvest Boxes delivered to customers’ doors. Unlike store-bought produce that often travels more than 1,200 miles and may sit for up to two weeks before reaching consumers, Produce Now harvests every Sunday, prepares meals on Monday and delivers by Tuesday.
Customers can order through the company’s website, where they can build custom salad boxes, subscribe for weekly deliveries or pick up items locally. The company is also expanding into Mother Road Market Kitchen with customizable salads and protein options, including grilled chicken and ground beef, that will soon be available online for home delivery.
Produce Now was inspired by concerns about the national food system and the chemicals often used in large-scale agriculture. The company says its greens contain zero preservatives, pesticides or unwanted additives, offering “pure, nutrient-rich food grown in Tulsafor Tulsa.”
Beyond its consumer products, Produce Now also supplies bulk produce to restaurants, gyms and community partners, and provides hydroponic GrowPods for education, research and government support programs — including troop nutrition overseas.
“We want to make clean, local food accessible everywhere,” Shane Illingworth, one of the founders, said. “Not just in homes, but in schools, institutions and communities around the world.”
Produce Now’s mission centers on offering food with zero food miles, maximum nutrient retention and a direct link between local farms and local families — one harvest at a time.
