Lately, my TikTok feed has been showing me oodles of videos of ducks paddling in cottage ponds, wildflowers spilling from woven baskets, and impossibly idyllic vegetable gardens. While it definitely makes my jealousy perk up, it also reminds me of the pleasure I get when the sun finally shows its face after a long, cold winter. “Finally!” I say to myself. “Spring is here.”
Cottagecore – an aesthetic that celebrates soft, pastoral living and romanticizes life’s simplest pleasures – is having a full-blown renaissance on TikTok, and I’ve been eating it up with a vintage spoon.
Creators like @cottagesnature, @outdoor.hannahand @cottagerenovationcwmrhys are racking up thousands of views with footage of spring flowers nodding in the breeze, freshly picked veggies arranged “just so” in a basket, and butterflies landing on white hydrangeas as if they’ve fluttered straight out of a Disney movie. It’s so dreamy, it has me reconsidering my entire approach to gardening.

The Cottagecore Garden Aesthetic, Explained
The essence of a cottagecore garden is about letting go. It gives off an “I just stumbled upon a secret garden in the English countryside” vibe – even if you live in suburban Ohio.
